On 9 November, LIFE Maronesa officially launched a new tourism partnership, its first international partnership with North American tour companies Culinary Backstreets and Milk Street.
The group of around fifteen tourists, most of whom were North American, spent Sunday morning visiting partner Casal da Bouça, the project’s model livestock farm. During a short morning walk, the group had the opportunity to visit the hay meadow with its monitoring station, the iconic Temple Grandin-inspired handling system, and finally, they were able to see some examples of Maronesa cattle from the farm that were closest to the village, in one of the parks created by breeder Tommy Ferreira.
At lunch, the group enjoyed our well-known CLIMA+ snack, prepared by the project partners and chefs of the CLIMA+ brand, Rita and João from the Forno de Jales Restaurant. In the afternoon, the group travelled to the Tresminas area to learn a little about the traditional practice of hunting and harvesting wild mushrooms. The tour then ended in this locality with a visit to Castanheiro dos Vales for the cooking (by the group itself) and tasting of roasted chestnuts.
