On 29 November, project manager Henrique Mira Godinho was a guest speaker at a gathering organised by Puraga – Association of Purebred Galician Horse Breeders, in collaboration with the Organization Rapa das Bestas de Sabucedo.
Our team member led to the discussion his presentation on the theme ‘The coexistence of fire and grazing,’ where he highlighted the work on the use of prescribed burning in C1 actions of land management, as well as the research he has been conducting on the relationship between the use of fire and the production of richer pastures for mountain cattle in the regions of Alvão, Cinfães and Pitões das Júnias.
Next, it was the turn of a presentation prepared by the Forest Agents of District XVI ‘Deza-Tabeirós’ of Aprafoga, who demonstrated the prescribed burning work they have been developing over the last 20 years, and the legislative and bureaucratic obstacles to meet the demands of farmers and livestock breeders.
At the end, there was time for a pleasant and lively debate among the approximately 30 participants who decided to attend these collaborative sessions.
